Hearing High School Students Present Sign Language Performance

May 21, 2002
Music in Motion, a performing troupe of hearing students from Thomas S. Wootton and Quince Orchard high schools will present "The Night Show," an interpretation of songs in American Sign Language (ASL).

The students, all beginning sign language students, attend ASL classes taught by Susan Gershowitz, who produces and directs the show, and is deaf herself. Gershowitz is an ASL teacher at both participating high schools.

Music in Motion showcases ASL as an expressive art form that brings songs visually alive for deaf people and allows hearing audiences to discover the beauty of American Sign Language.

Performances are scheduled for:

May 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Quince Orchard High School
May 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Wootton High School.

Admission is $1.00 at the door.
