Burnt Mills Elementary to Host 'Thank You' Breakfast for Volunteers

August 6, 2002
Burnt Mills Elementary School will host a breakfast and ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, to thank the 30 volunteers who have participated in the school's Summer Adventures in Learning program. The program has provided extended learning opportunities to students entering kindergarten through Grade 3.

Burnt Mills is one of 18 participating Title I schools offering this summer opportunity free-of-charge to young children, particularly those who are learning English or who are disadvantaged by poverty. The program is designed to improve students' reading, writing and mathematics skills. Students also are provided with breakfast and lunch, and with bus transportation to and from the program site.

The four-week Summer Adventures in Learning will conclude on Friday, August 9.

Burnt Mills Elementary School is located at 11211 Childs Street in Silver Spring, Maryland.
