TV Shows about Coping with Crisis on Cable Channel 34

Three new television programs offer strategies and resources parents can use to help their children cope with stress through the current crisis. The programs, created by Montgomery County Public Schools’ guidance and instructional television staff, will air on cable channel 34 through the month of October.
Parent Strategies for Stressful Times - Elementary, middle and high school guidance specialists join the supervisor of Guidance and the director of Student Services to provide helpful skills parents can use in dealing with stress with their children. They identify symptoms that parents might notice in their children as a result of recent events and offer tips on how to help their children. Suggestions for additional resources are provided.
§ Mondays at 8:00 p.m.
§ Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m.
§ Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m.
§ Thursdays at 9:00 p.m.
§ Fridays at 8:30 p.m.
§ Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Helping Children Cope with Crisis - In this program, a school psychologist, school counselor and the director of Student Services discuss some common emotional reactions parents and school staff might expect to see following a trauma or tragedy. Suggestions are made for ways adults can help children through a crisis.
§ English: Fridays at 9:45 p.m.
§ Chinese: Wednesdays at 9:45 p.m.
§ Korean: Thursdays at 9:45 p.m.
§ Spanish: Mondays at 9:45 p.m.
§ Vietnamese: Tuesdays at 9:45 p.m.
Resources Available for Dealing with Crisis - In this short program, the senior administrator with the Montgomery County Crisis Center and the MCPS director of Student Services provide valuable information to community members and parents about the 24 hour a day Montgomery County Crisis Line.
§ Monday through Friday at 6:50 p.m. (after News Update)
§ Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
