MCPS Seniors Earn More Than $364 Million in Scholarships

June 28, 2018

MCPS graduates from the Class of 2018 have earned $364.4 million in college scholarships to date—an increase of more than $14 million over last year. The total values of scholarships earned is expected to grow over the next few weeks as final data is gathered.

“Our graduates worked hard, performed at high levels and are very deserving of these scholarships,” said Superintendent Jack Smith. “We are proud of them and look forward to hearing about their continued success in college and careers.”

The Class of 2018 has received many prestigious scholarships and awards for outstanding academic performance, community involvement and leadership. Ten graduates were awarded full-tuition scholarships from the Posse Foundation. In September, it was announced that 153 MCPS seniors were named National Merit semifinalists and, so far, 41 have been awarded scholarships, with one more round of recipients to be announced in July.
