MCPS Selected as Public Sector Partner of the Year By County Chamber of Commerce

June 7, 2019

Montgomery County Public Schools has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Public Sector Partner of the Year Award. This award recognizes an organization that works in partnership with the Chamber to propel its mission forward.

The award was presented to Board of Education President Shebra Evans and Superintendent Jack Smith at the Chamber’s 60th Annual Dinner Celebration on June 4.

“The Board of Education thanks the Chamber of Commerce for their unwavering support and commitment to MCPS students,” Evans said. “Business partnerships play a vital role in our ongoing efforts to provide all students with the tools, resources and knowledge they need to thrive in college, career and the community.”

The Annual Dinner Celebration acknowledges the talent and organizations that contribute to the regional economy and support the Chamber’s efforts to achieve a bright future. More than 900 guests, including elected officials, awardees, sponsors and business leaders, attended the event.

“MCPS believes in the power of partnerships with the business community to ensure that all students have access and opportunity,” said Superintendent Jack Smith. “Our work of preparing more than 163,000 students to thrive is not a task that a school district can tackle on its own and we are grateful for the support of the Chamber of Commerce and for our many business partnerships.”
