New Judy Center to Serve Gaithersburg Area

November 13, 2002
Montgomery County’s Early Childhood Initiative will celebrate the opening of the County’s second Judy Center on November 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Summit Hall Elementary School. The center will serve communities in the Summit Hall and Rosemont elementary schools enrollment areas in Gaithersburg.

The Center, a comprehensive early childhood program offering a range of services and supports for children under age six and their families, is the result of a unique partnership among state and local government, public schools, and community organizations. Partners include Montgomery County Public Schools, the City of Gaithersburg, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries, and the Collaboration Council for Children, Youth, and Families. The new center in Montgomery County is funded through the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Program.

The first County center, located at Rolling Terrace Elementary School, opened last year.
