Call-In Program on School Emergency Preparedness

Viewpoint: Preparing for Emergencies, a live call-in television program, will air on Montgomery County Public Schools Cable Channel 34 on Tuesday, April 1, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Parents and community members are invited to call with their questions at 301-279-3234 or send an email to viewpoint@mcps.tv during the program.

The presentation will include a panel discussion with health professionals and safety and security officials from Montgomery County and Montgomery County Public Schools.

Participants will include Gordon Aoyagi, director of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services; Judith Covich, senior administrator for school health with the county Department of Health and Human Services; Susan Marks, community superintendent; and Edward Clarke, director of the school system's Department of School Safety and Security.

Parents and other community members will be able to ask questions of the panelists. Topics are expected to include:
* A description of school system and county preparedness plans.
* Guidance for what parents should do in an emergency.
* Frequently asked questions from parents and staff.
