Rockville, Md. — Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is launching a series of in-person community engagement sessions to gather public feedback on long-term facilities planning, shifting enrollment trends, and potential future school closures, consolidations, or boundary adjustments for the Elementary and Middle School Consolidation and Closure Study.
As enrollment shifts across Montgomery County, some facilities have excess capacity while other areas continue to expand. MCPS is conducting a comprehensive, countywide evaluation to ensure district resources are aligned to best serve students and families.
The sessions mark the beginning of a two-year planning process. No decisions regarding school closures, consolidations, or boundary changes have been made. Any modifications resulting from this process would not take effect until the 2029–2030 school year.
Members of the news media are invited to RSVP before attending sessions.
