Five Schools Found with Elevated Levels of Lead

June 17, 2004
Elevated levels of lead were found in some water sample results for five schools – Bel Pre, Lake Seneca, Stedwick, Weller Road, and Whetstone elementary schools – according to results released today [Thursday, June 17].

Elevated levels of lead – exceeding the standard of no more than 20 parts per billion (ppb) – have been found in some samples among 28 schools tested, thus far. The high samples were found among remote sites (such as sink faucets) and not designated drinking water sources. Schools continue to flush all designated drinking water sources.

The current results for the latest five schools are available at above.

The results are being analyzed to identify long term solutions. Results for all schools tested are available on the web at the link below.
