Board of Education to Meet on Monday, July 1
June 28, 2013
New Student Board Member to be Sworn In
The Montgomery County Board of Education will meet on Monday, July 1, 2013, to make administrative appointments. The meeting will take place at the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville, and will begin at 4:30 p.m., with public agenda items beginning at 6 p.m. The public portion of the meeting will be broadcast live on the
MCPS website
and on MCPS TV (Comcast Channel 34). The agenda, with links to related materials, can be found on the

At 7 p.m., the Board of Education will hold a swearing-in ceremony for the 36th Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB), Mr. Justin C. Kim, a rising senior at Poolesville High School. Mr. Kim succeeds John Mannes, a Northwest High School graduate who has served as SMOB for the past year.
The SMOB is a voting member of the Board of Education, and can cast votes on all items, with the exception of boundary changes, the capital and operating budgets, collective bargaining, negative personnel matters, and school closings.
