Three Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students have been named finalists in the 2017 Regeneron Science Talent Search, one of the most prestigious high school science competitions in the nation. The three students are among 40 finalists nationwide and account for all of the finalists in the state of Maryland.

The three finalists and their projects are:

Sambuddha Chattopadhyay, Montgomery Blair High School, On T-Reflection via Analytic Continuation in Quantum Mechanics

Rohan Dalvi, Montgomery Blair High School, Kinetic Trapping and Structural Determination of Native-State Biomolecules in the Gas Phase

David Rekhtman, Walt Whitman High School, A Study of the Induction of Immunogenic Cell Death in Response to Local Ablative Therapies of Cancer

The Regeneron Science Talent Search is administered by the Society for Science & the Public, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to public engagement in scientific research and education. The finalists will gather March 9–15 in Washington, D.C., to compete for more than $1 million in awards, including the top award of $250,000.

On January 4, 2017, the Society for Science and the Public announced the names of 300 semifinalists who were chosen from a pool of more than 1,700 entries. Fifteen MCPS students were chosen as semifinalists.
