MCPS Breakfast with the Superintendent to Feature Pepco Holdings CEO on September 27
Montgomery County Public Schools’ Superintendent Jack R. Smith, Ph.D. will interview David M. Velazquez, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, as part of an on-stage discussion about careers in the utility industry. The interview is a part of the 4th Annual Breakfast with the Superintendent event on Friday, Sept. 27. Hosted by the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation, Inc., the event will bring together business leaders and educators to talk with students about STEM careers in industry and academia.
Over breakfast, STEM professionals will discuss their careers and answer questions from high school seniors interested in STEM disciplines and careers. The student participants were selected because they have completed advanced coursework in STEM subjects.
Dr. Smith will ask Mr. Velazquez to share his path to becoming CEO of a major utility holding company. The two leaders will also discuss professions represented in the utility industry and the future of energy generation.
Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation, Inc. is the official charity for MCPS and raises funds to address gaps in opportunity for MCPS students.
